In ancient times, education in the name o f schools didn't exist. A gurukul or gurukulam (Sanskrit: गुरुकुल, Romanised: gurukul) was a type of spiritual education system in ancient India with shishya ('students' or 'disciples') living near or with the spiritual guru, in the same house. But after British colonialism the Indian education system took a long turn and moved to the system of schools. Government started establishing schools and generally these were in main towns and hence people from villages or rural places got a little exposure as well as less opportunities to be taught in schools. But yes, the real truth was that the Indian Education system was improving. Based on the report and recommendations of the Kothari Commission (1964–1966), the government of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi announced the first National Policy on Education in 1968, which called for a "radical restructuring" and proposed equal educational opportunities in order to achieve national integration and greater cultural and economic development. [Source- Wikipedia/National Education Policy, India] After a prolong time in 1986 again the NEP (National Education policy) was amended with the latest features of then. BUT! That old education is still continuing till date (2020), with some very minor amendments in between. Can you think we are that country, which is the buying the highest number of defence equipment every year! We are that country which is sending space crafts with the least budget! We are that country whose human resource is considered to be the best and has the highest net worth in MNCs! Approximately 80%of Indians work in MNCs and about 56% of them works in executive posts! but in the back end in the Indian colleges in about 75% of them do not have proper lab facilities! Our country is creating the highest number of engineers every year but about 85% of them are unemployed. You may consider it’s a failure of the commercial sector of the nation but in some point, it seems to be like it’s a big failure of our education system. It’s providing the best theoretical knowledge but in some point the practical knowledge is lacking behind. Being a student, to be honest whenever I open our textbooks at many point of time it seems like these books and its layouts are too outdated. Let’s have an example, below is a page of a class- 10 Science book:-
Now please observe the page and try to read the context and try to find at least two important point which you can consider which may be asked in your exams or may be for your knowledge in class 10 (if any please comment it below). That’s what is our books are. Every chapter in beginning has about two pages of cliché introduction which is not going to even asked in your exams or in anything related like the same. Now you imagine you sat to study the book, and you are just reading and turning off the pages of a chapter which has a cliché introduction of 6 pages. Uff! That’s what it is!!
Beside the books, is the stream choosing part. Have a look at the second meme which I attached above! It quotes “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is a stupid! ” But that’s what happening in India! It doesn’t matter at what you are good in just give the exam and pass off! Every student is good at something which they learnt in their life but the thing which they are not getting is the exposure! It’s because India is not able to generate enough number of educative streams or degree courses. Having a cliché education system doesn’t make any sense for a country like India. Indian govt. should ask themselves what’s the reason why human resources are moving out of the country! Why even after having some the most reputed institutes of the world like IITs, NITs, IIITs, AIIMS students move abroad for their studies? Why their brains are draining to move to other countries? The simple answer to this is lack of exposure and dirty Indian politics!! The whole year the opposition spend their time in opposing the policies. And the ruling party just moves their head to clarify to their opposes! That’s what goes every year and terms in India! NO USEFUL DECISION, JUST CLICHÉ OPPOSITION AND CLARIFICATION!Amazingly, every year private publishers can publish new to newest books for information updates but a govt. organisation like NCERT can’t! Every year private publishers are applying new techniques to improve their productivity as well as quality of notes, questions they publish but why NCERT can’t. Does it don’t have enough capital? Huh! Every year Indian central government is investing crores and crores of rupees on Education in India but still that’s what goes in India!
Again lets take a simple example of a Mathematical proof of a theorem of class- 10:-
Now, please observe how NCERT has proved a simple theorem of the Triangle chapter in class- 10 Mathematics book! 😂 Literally, that’s embarrassing! Actually, what’s that ‘Why?, How?’!!!!!!
Will anyone ever try to read this book thorough! NEVER!! That’s what goes here in India! Indian Education system is seriously suffering from cancer and the main way to cure it is to bring drastic changes to the education system!
